March is here, and with it Central New Jersey's Snowball RG.
The theme this year is Snowball Rocks!! In addition to their
usual excellent programming they will have a costume party/contest
on Saturday night. Any costume that is related in some way to
their theme qualifies for the contest. This is the longest running
and one of the best RGs in the country. You can find the latest
information at their website,
www.cnj.us.mensa.org/Snowball/snowindx.htm.
Three weeks after Snowball, the AMC will be meeting in
Greenville, South Carolina. Sometime in early March the
agenda will be posted to the member only section of the
AML website. I'll be discussing many of the agenda items
on the Region 2 Yahoo group,
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AML-Region2/.
Do you have friends or family members who are thinking about
joining Mensa? During the month of April, American Mensa will
waive the $30 fee and evaluate prior evidence for free. This
will be a great time to encourage candidates (adults and children)
to submit their scores for membership. To take advantage this
offer, candidates will need to visit the AML website between 4/1
and 4/30. Instructions on submitting scores for free will be
linked from the home page.
Region 2's Leadership Development Workshop (LDW) is finally taking
shape. The contracts have been signed, thanks in part to the hard work of Yvonne Brownlee. The LDW will be Saturday, May 13, at the
Sheraton Park Ridge in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Our hospitality suite will be open Friday evening before the LDW for those who wish
to show up early and meet our speakers. Next month I will discuss the programs and events for the LDW. Anybody interested in attending
must register by sending an email to me no later than April 30. Registration is free and lunch is included. An LDW is a great way to
meet with and learn from, past, present, and future leaders of Mensa. This is an event for everybody, not just officers. You can
find the latest information at
http://region2.us.mensa.org/LDW.htm.
In August, American Mensa will be celebrating Mensa's 60th birthday in
Orlando at the World Gathering (WG). At last count, 992 people have
registered, and more than 175 programs already have been scheduled. I
hope to see many of you there, August 8-13, 2006, at the Coronado
Springs Hotel. More information about the WG can be found at their website,
http://wg06.us.mensa.org/.
Project Inkslinger continues to help restock libraries devasted by
Hurricane Katrina. Project Inkslinger Coordinator Michael Paul
Beetham
(inkslinger@us.mensa.org)
wants to make sure everyone knows
that the need for books for hurricane relief is only just beginning.
We, as Mensans, can be of value. For info on this subject website go

for address, etc., or contact Michael directly.
American Mensa recently launched their online member forums. Mensans
now have a centralized place online to meet and, yes, express their
many opinions. We welcome our members to visit the discussion forums
and find out! More than 475 people already have joined. You can find
the forums at
http://www.us.mensa.org/community/forum/.
Have you renewed your Mensa membership? As of the end of January,
more than 55% of the membership had already renewed, well ahead of last year's pace. Our total membership is also ahead of last year.
The easiest way to renew is through the Mensa website, at
https://secure.us.mensa.org/members/am_renew.php.
