As Sallie Banko stated in her April column, I will be your new Regional Vice Chair when the gavel falls at the AG this month. I thank all those who helped with my campaign and hope that I can serve the region as well as she and her predecessors have. It is a large, populous region, spanning from Central New Jersey south to the Virginias. My first introduction to Region 2 was an attendance at Snowball, which I believe was run by Don Smart.
I have been a member of Mensa for the last 22 years, having worked with the Boston, Broward, and Metropolitan Washington groups, as well as regionally and nationally. I joined while I was living in the Fort Lauderdale area, then becoming active up in Boston. I have served all three groups as editor, hopefully, well. The name of my column might be familiar to some, for I had been called Ed the Editor, hence Ed2, for a good 15 years now. So it appears that it is serendipitous that I should become RVC of Region 2, I have been a resident of Virginia and a member of MWM for almost five years.
I am planning on producing at least one LDW, one of the local groups has already stepped forward to offer a venue in Spring of 2004. Details will be announced, as they become available. In the mean time, all individuals interested in attending, whether as a speaker or as a participant, should contact me. If your local group wants to send at least one representative, I will be more than happy to help make arrangements.
I would like to join with Sallie Banko in thanking Sheila Gross for a job well done on the Scholarship program. In addition, we cannot forget the able job that Marc Lederman of Central Pennsylvania is performing as WebMaster, he was extremely helpful and conscientious in his efforts for the election campaign, and this fact should be recognized. I am hoping that they both will continue on. In addition, Jim Gross, a lawyer and former LocSec of MWM has agreed to act as Regional Counsel.
Please feel free to send me email, until the transfer is complete, I may be reached at rvc2candidate@edgor.com, my personal website is www.edgor.com, but most information is and will be available at www.region2.us.mensa.org.
