RVC2 - My Two Bits - January 2005
by Ed Gordon, RVC Region 2

Here’s wishing a happy and prosperous New Year to all the members of Region 2. The holiday season has come to and end, and we should be all tucked in for the winter. It’s time to reflect over our last year’s goals and accomplishments, and plan for the future year. The AMC did this in the fall, and we are going to be sharing our thoughts and plans with the regions over the next year. The AMC meeting in Orlando has taken place, and the Mini-Minutes could be available before your newsletter for either January or February goes to press. By this time, the matters that arise at the AMC Meeting will be introduced to the Region on the Yahoo Group for the Region, the email address for subscribing is: AML-Region2-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. The more voices that express their opinion will produce a greater chance of there being a correct understanding of how the local groups feel on the important issues.

Virginia Beach put on an excellent Regional Gathering with “My Favorite Mensan”. The programs were well attended, and as usual, the Pungo Players were true to form, dazzling the audience with skills. The further Regional Gatherings are Central Pennsylvania’s Winter Solstice Regional Gathering in Lancaster PA during December 17-19, and Central New Jersey’s Snowball XXXI, “Nautical but Nice” in Piscataway, NJ during March 4-6.

Remember it is time to renew your dues for the 2005 fiscal year. The dues are up to $52 for this year, and since the services offered to Mensa are ever-expanding, the membership is getting their money’s worth. Remember that your dues go to support the newsletters, magazines, website, and many more services. Now, through the website you can get access to deals on items such as insurance, credit cards, transportation, vacations and much more. We are keeping pace with the innovations that other affinity groups are providing, and we should be cognizant of that fact.

See you next month….
